Overview: Man born of a woman is of a few days and full of trouble. Questions about our mortality can bring on anxieties; however, God is always waiting for us to cast our burdens on Him. He is able to help us bear much fruit whether our days are brief or not. We can’t give up because we’re still on an assignment and it’s what we do for Christ that will last. We must never forget the great commission as ambassadors of Christ to spread the gospel everywhere we go.

Sometimes, the road of life may take us into territories that we can’t clearly see or understand, therefore, we must trust God and His Word to be a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our paths. Witnessing in this world today is a challenge and sometimes we may become weary and long to be in heaven. Instead, let’s praise God for abundant life and the joy that awaits us in eternity.

Remember, we don’t have to do this alone. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to live in us. We have the power to live godly lives and do what God want us to do throughout life’s journey.

Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson  –  Sacrifice of Praise

Sunday’s lesson entitled “Praise in the Dark” sets the tone for this week’s study.  The key verse is Hebrews 13:15, “Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise – the fruit of lips that openly profess His name.”

This verse says that a sacrifice of praise is the fruit of lips that confess the name of Christ and it is to be offered continually.  What a perfect meditation as we begin our study this week.  The sacrifice of praise comes from a humble heart that has been purified by fire.  It rises from a spirit that has chosen to honor God in spite of the pain that life is causing.

If praise comes through pain and suffering, it is a sacrifice of praise.  This kind of praise pleases God.  He knows it cost us to praise Him in the pain.  He sees the trust we place in His sovereignty and He is pleased.  Praise Him in the good times also is good, but the praise that cost is that much better to Him.

May God grant us the vision and grace that will enable us to praise His name during our hardship.  We come to celebrate the sacrifice of praise.  Jesus, you have called us out of darkness into your marvelous light to show forth your praise each morning.  You are so worthy of our sacrifice and praise, worthy is the Lamb that was slain before the foundation of the world that the angels cried out holy, holy, Lord God Almighty.

We give you the glory, we give you the honor and we offer the Sacrifice of praise
