Overview:

Sunday –    Let us not be lazy Christians amid difficult times. Instead, trust God for grace to carry out our mission until the end.

Monday – Sin is rampant in our world today. It has the power to lure us and it can be addictive. We must avoid these temptations by trusting God to give us true contentment.

TuesdayIf we’ve stumbled in sin, repent! God does not easily give up on battered and broken people. He wants to revive us. Let’s humble ourselves, turn from our wicked ways and ask Him for restoration and strength.

Wednesday We should be so grateful that God looks beyond our mistakes and forgives us. Therefore, we must also be careful not to focus on our past or anyone else’s. Instead, begin to allow God to use us for His glory right now.

ThursdayIn order for us to really experience the fullness of God’s love, we must desire to have an intimate relationship with Him. Allow Him to pour into us knowledge so that we can grasp His purpose for our lives.

FridayWe have been given the mandate to tell others about the gift of Jesus and how the Holy Spirit transformed our earthen vessel into a glorious one. As others witness the change in us, let’s pray that they too will desire to have a relationship with the only true and living God.

***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

God’s Chosen Vessel

You are God’s chosen vessel.  That’s exactly who you are, no matter what you feel like or how many times you have been broken.  You may look around and think that others are prettier, smarter or even more talented, but in the Master’s hand you are His chosen vessel to be used for His glory.  The Master uses all of your broken pieces to make something beautiful.  The beauty of brokenness is that the Master can put the pieces back together again.  It is through your weaknesses and flaws that the Master’s character and strength can shine through.

God loves to use broken vessels.  He is glorified by the vessels He chooses for us to be.  The only way for us to become all God desires us to be is to remain pliable in the Master’s hand.  As the Master’s chosen vessel, we do not sit on a shelf in a closet somewhere, we are frequently handled, moved, lifted and filled with the Holy Spirit to pour out His love, peace and joy to other empty vessels so they also can become His priceless treasure.

In the Master’s hand, you are washed and cleansed.  You are lifted up and put in position.  You are filled and poured out.  You are chosen.  Your life holds promise and purpose beyond what you could ever imagine.

“My friends, make time for God every day because He always has time for you.” — Sister Clovia
