Overview:

Sunday –  If we’ve strayed away from God, His love will never stop pursing us. Rejoice and share with others that He really cares.

Monday – When there’s an indescribable longing or lost that we can’t seem to grasp because it’s out of our reach, whether, material, emotional or spiritual, pray to God to fulfill us and give us hope for the future.

TuesdayThere are times that we ask amiss. God knows our motives and He is gentle to give us a kind critique with grace and truth. If we have sinned, repent and allow God’s Word to correct us.

Wednesday Remember, God has not abandoned us during our times of suffering. Contrariwise, He will be with us when all seems lost. Cling to Him and He will give us hope and joy.

ThursdayGod’s arms are outstretched with love. He will meet us where we are with a big bear hug. Let’s accept His love and share with others that have an ear to hear.

Friday Life’s seasons will continue to get a little bumpy, however, God can be trusted. Always put our hope in His amazing, loving hands and He will sustain us through this troubling world.

***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

A Mother’s Hands

A mother’s hands reach out to bless her children and reach up to praise the Lord.  They are always loving, often praying, and never giving more than she keeps for herself.

A mother’s hands may tire, but they never expire in their effort to do good for those she loves.

A mother’s hands are praying hands that reach her children when they have gone so far away.  A mother knows that God will reach them as she folds her hands to pray.

A mother’s hands are gentle.  They are missed so very much.  We will give the world to feel once more their warm and tender touch.

Wrinkled now as time moves on these gentle hands we hold; we are grateful for our mother’s hands and the stories they have told.

Happy Mother’s Day! Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the Lord.  — Psalm 134:2 (ESV)

“My friends, make time for God every day because He always has time for you.” — Sister Clovia
