Overview:

Sunday –  We’ve all sinned and have our flaws. Don’t try to hide them, instead, invite Jesus into those crooked places to mend us and straighten out those areas of our lives. His grace is sufficient to correct the impossible.

Monday – When the religious leaders plotted to kill Jesus, it really worked out for our greater good. Jesus gave His life and was resurrected to provide a divine escape plan to all who were bound.  When we repented, we were forgiven and set free.

TuesdayKeep in mind, God made mankind marvelously unique. However, Adam and Eve allowed sin to enter in, but Jesus reconciled us back to the Father. We should be so grateful for His rich love toward us that we find ourselves developing an intimate relationship with Jesus and begin to praise Him for the wonderful works that He has begun in us.

Wednesday Instead of seeking our own pleasures in life, let’s ask God to give us a heart of fasting. In turn, this will enable us to love truth and be at peace with mankind and to help those who are destitute.

ThursdayGod looked beyond our faults and saw our needs. He forgave us of our sins; therefore, we too, must not condemn anyone living in sin. Instead, pray for them, show compassion and teach them God’s way.

Friday Remember, Satan lied to all of us, now that we see the light and know the truth, let’s ask God to give us grace to share our stories of salvation to help liberate those who are still trapped in sin.

***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

Fasting and Praying

Fasting and praying are such fundamental parts of the 5AM Bible Study Ministry, that in our Christian walk, it can at times, be assumed that we always know what to do and how to do it.

We are to consecrate ourselves before God so that we become more available to be used by Him.  Both fasting and praying are personal between us and the Father.  There are no hard and fast rules about how often we should pray and fast within the new Covenant, but it cannot be ignored that God wants us to devote ourselves to these things which He makes very clear throughout the scriptures.

The entire chapter of Isaiah 58 is full of wisdom about true and false fasting.  If you ever have  questions about what God sees as fasting that is pleasing to Him, the Ministry encourages each of us to read and meditate in your quiet time Isaiah 58 every day this week.

When we fast according to Biblical principles (not for weight loss or other carnal reasons), our spiritual eyes and ears will be opened wider and we will be able to hear from God.

Isaiah 58:6 says “Is not this the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?”  Blessings in Abundance!

“My friends, make time for God every day because He always has time for you.” — Sister Clovia
