Overview:

Sunday –  We must pray for those who are suffering and being killed for their faith. Though this may seem small, it’s significant. Pray that God will comfort, strengthen and give them hope.

Monday – Our mission to spread the gospel is crucial. There are so many lost and confused souls in the world today. Nothing can satisfy, but Jesus! We ourselves are sometimes depleted of strength, let’s listen and come back to a place of intimacy with our faithful Savior. He will quench our thirsty souls!

TuesdayWhen facing life’s challenges, remember, God is with us. Begin to pray for God to send a wise, patient, godly mentor who can lead and help us grow spiritually and live. As we are encouraged, let’s reach out to others.

Wednesday None of us know the threats we may face in the future. However, we have the privilege of calling on the Lord to save us. Let’s rest in the fact that He will wipe away our tears now and for eternity.

ThursdayKeep in mind, the best strategy for life is to share our journey experiences with others. Trust God to send people that will not only encourage us but also support us.

Friday In closing, when we feel the dark edge of loneliness, be confident that we are not alone. Being a friend of God will help us to stay focused. Therefore, with the same comfort we receive of God, let’s fuel His love into our brothers and sisters in Christ whether they return the support or not.

***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

The Gift of Real Friendship

To have a faithful friend is one of the highest delights of life.  Consequently,  to be a faithful friend is one of the noblest and most difficult undertakings. Real friendships, depend not only upon fancy imagination or sentiment, but largely upon strong and consistent character traits.

There is no man so poor, that he is not rich, if he has a friend.  There is no man so rich that he is not poor without a friend.  Friendship is a word made to cover many imperfect and small relationships. Real friendship is abiding like love, it suffereth long and is kind.

There is no treasure like the treasure of a faithful friend.

There is no pleasure like the pleasure a friendship can lend.

Fame and riches, other pleasures, these may quickly pass away.

Real friendship and its golden treasures last forever and a day.

“My friends, make time for God every day because He always has time for you.” — Sister Clovia
