Overview:

Sunday –  Never give up on God. No matter how we suffer in life, God can use our afflictions for His glory in unexpected ways to bless and comfort others.

Monday – We must recognize that God is with us. Let’s gain His perspective when we’re facing hardships rather than focusing on our lack.

TuesdayGod may not always choose us for a certain role in His Kingdom because He may have someone else more qualified to do the work. However, we must be sure that our attitude is positive in the area where God wants us to serve.

Wednesday Time is precious, our spiritual investment in Jesus will yield incredible benefits, namely eternal life. Let’s get to know Him better as we live and follow Jesus.

ThursdayIt is a fact that noises are overwhelming in our interior and exterior worlds. We must be still and turn our hearts to God as we seek peace and spend time with Him.

FridayKeep in mind while serving, just as God is gentle and powerful, we too must stand up for the weak. We must also, reveal our hearts of gentleness to those in need.

***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

Spiritual Bank Account

Ephesians 1:3 tells us that God has provided us with every blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.  What are those blessings in our spiritual bank account?  We have an account in heaven that is filled with spiritual resources and wealth.  The fact is, we are rich!  We are rich because our Heavenly Father chose us, adopted us and redeemed us.  We are rich because of forgiveness.  He does not hold our sins or our past against us.  He freely gives us all things.  In other words, we are rich in the spiritual assets given by God.

Our spiritual bank account never stops growing.  If we allow people to make more withdrawals than deposits in our lives, we will be out of balance and in the negative.  The world will continue to withdraw from your spiritual bank account through trials and temptations, but we have full control over the balance in our account.  Take control of your spiritual bank account today.  By making deposits often like love, peace, and joy, we are able to withdraw when needed.  So today, make that spiritual deposit knowing that God is keeping your ledger.

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it . —  Proverbs 22:6 (ESV)
