Overview/Theme:

Sunday God expects Christians to always show love and to openly welcome all people warmly into the Kingdom.

Monday He is the Mighty Warrior who saves and He takes delight in His people and rejoices over us with singing because He loves us. Even in our times of distress, we should give thanks to God and allow the melody of His song to draw us closer to Him.

TuesdayTo develop an intimate relationship with the Lord we must have a prayer life. If our prayers are weak, allow the Holy Spirit to intercede in prayer on our behalf. When we don’t know what to say or how to express ourselves, God understands every language.

WednesdayIn this life, we will have trials and tribulations. When facing a firing squad, begin to sing praises to God and trust His presence to provide comfort.

ThursdayThere are many books in the library that tell  about some of the miracles that Jesus performed while in His humanity on earth. However, the books can’t contain it all.  We all have a story to tell about Jesus’ love and grace that brought us out of a horrible pit. Therefore, let’s share our testimonies so that others can see that God is a Mighty Warrior!

FridayYes, we do continue to live in a very hostile world, however, we can be confident that we are secure in the arms of Jesus, our Shepherd! Continue to do the work of an evangelist and remember to show God’s love and welcome all people into His Kingdom.

***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Inspirational Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

Why Do We Sing?

Someone asked the question:  why do we sing?  When we lift our hands to Jesus what do we mean?

When we sing, we dig deep roots in the Word.  Singing, along with teaching are the main ways in which God’s Word dwells in us richly.  Colossians 3:16

When we sing, we build up others.  We sing to bless others, to edify and to stir one another toward righteousness.  Colossians 3:13-16

When we sing, we obey God.  Scriptures call us to sing a new song and so we sing out of obedience and because God is simply worthy of it.  Psalm 33

When we sing, we glorify God.  Singing has such a unique way of bringing our hearts, souls, mind and strength together to focus on God.

Let us join the heavenly choir because there is a battle to fight.  Do not fear the enemy for we are led by His light.  On that glorious day, we will be one of the great multitudes that no one can number, singing the song of the Lamb, singing His praises.

I hope you will be there, singing the song of our Savior Jesus Christ.  Clap your hands 5 AM members, shout to God with loud songs of joy.   Psalm 47:1

“My friends, make time for God every day so He will have time for you.”— Sister Clovia
