Overview/Theme:

Sunday We may have many questions for God about why we suffer.  Put our trust and faith in Him and He will give us comfort and strength for the journey. As a result, this time spent with Him will deepen our relationship.

MondayWe must be willing to listen to God and trust Him during these times of struggles. He will see us through our most darkest moments and teach us the importance of sharing our testimonies with others who may have similar trials.

TuesdayKeep in mind, the God of all creation, who is beyond the stars, is close to each of us. He sustains all of His creation. Let’s pause to give Him praise as we seek to be nearer to Him.

WednesdayOur Redeemer, Jesus, came to unite and bridge the broken walls of hostility and favoritism, therefore, in our quest to win souls for God’s Kingdom, we must never discriminate or judge others.

ThursdayNeither can we rely on our physical strength or muscle to fight our way through any relational or circumstantial battle.  Instead, put our faith in God to be our strength.

FridayAs we grow older, people and things around us change. However, we must stay focused on the purpose of our journey and no matter how empty life seems, God’s love is unchanging. He will fill the void, so let’s continue to faithfully serve Him and others.

***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Inspirational Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

A Sweet Aroma of Christ

Paul said, “we are to Christ a sweet aroma of His victory over sin”.  God has given us the fragrance of Christ so we can become a sweet-smelling sacrifice of praise.  But how can we live so we can spread His sweet-smelling fragrance to others?

We can show generosity and love.  We can share the gospel with others so they can find the way to salvation.  We can allow the Holy Spirit to display through us His gifts of love, joy and kindness.  A godly life is a fragrance that draws others to Christ.

“My friends, make time for God every day so He will have time for you.”— Sister Clovia
