Overview/Theme:

Sunday – God sent His Son Jesus, the best gift ever to mankind so that we, through the Holy Spirit can experience love, hope, joy and peace in this troubling world.

Monday – God is faithful to keep His promises and there’s no need for a co-signer. We must trust God and His Word and He will sustain us until the coming of the Lord.

Tuesday -Living in this fallen world can be difficult, however, the just shall live by faith alone. Those who seek the Lord must yield to the Holy Spirit to teach us how to live right and to enjoy God’s Kingdom now.

Wednesday –Keep in mind, nothing or no one can satisfy the soul but Jesus! Be sure to set our affections or our passions on things that are eternal.

Thursday – When trouble arises, focus on God’s love and His purpose for us. Through faith in the cross of Jesus, we have the victory now and for eternity.

Friday – Always thank God for our earthly dwellings that we occupy and call home. Most importantly, remember, someday we will experience that prepared place that Jesus call home sweet home where we will dwell with Him forever.

***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson  –

The Valley of Blessing

We all go through difficult times and things we don’t understand.  When we are in the valley, it is easy to get discouraged and think it will never get better.  Too often, that is when we lose our passion.

But the scripture also talks about the valley of blessing at 2 Chronicles 20:26 which says “on the fourth day they gathered in the Valley of Blessing which got its name that day because the people praised and thanked the Lord there…”

That seems like a contradiction, especially if we are in the valley of sickness.  You could easily be discouraged and settle where you are.  Take heart this is only temporary.  It is going to turn to a valley of health and a valley of greater strength.  God has us in the palm of His hand.  He promised to number our days and He will fulfill it.  Don’t be discouraged by the valley.  It is about to turn into a valley of breakthroughs, a valley of abundance, a valley of victory .  It is a valley of blessing!

God is the master of turning burdens into blessings.
