Overview/Theme:

Sunday Let’s embrace our diversities and make every effort to keep our unity in faith. Our purpose should be to please God in all that we are and all that we do

MondayThere are times that we may experience disappointments or hurts in life, however, we must humble ourselves and be still. As we pray, God will give us peace.

TuesdayIt’s then, we will be able to reflect on the God of the depths and remember that He created all things for His good pleasure. Also, we can begin to appreciate the beauty of His handy work whether it’s getting away to the ocean or the mountains. Most importantly, not only can we enjoy this earth now but we can anticipate the wonders of heaven someday.

WednesdayWe all are foreigners passing through this way, however, God has called us to create a community of hospitality as we welcome strangers into the family of God.

ThursdayThis assignment may cause us to have anxieties everyday but we must not fear. Stay anchored in the Lord and allow the Holy Spirit to comfort and guide us into a safe place when life is oppressive.

Friday – Remember, God is with us in our darkest hour. Always give Him thanks for His love for the body of Christ and be confident that He knows us and He will never leave or forsake us.

Saturday–

***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

Our Anchor in the Storm

What does it take to live a godly life in an ungodly world?  There is so much sin and evil around us that we find ourselves knee deep in it.  Hebrews 6:19 tells us that our anchor is Jesus Christ.  He is our only salvation from sin, the anchor of our souls that holds firm especially when the storms of life threatens and when the enemy’s temptations blow hard against us.

Will our anchor hold in the storms of life, when clouds unfold their wings of strife?  When the strong tides lift and the cables strain, will your anchor drift or will it firmly remain?  Jesus is our anchor that keeps the soul and will hold no matter what storms we may face.  We should rather go through the storm with Jesus than sail through life without Him.

When storms come the anchor holds.  We don’t need to fear the storms with Jesus.  Being well anchored in Jesus, we will survive in the storm.
