Overview

Theme:  Time, Mortality and Service

SundayIn this world, danger lurks at our door every day. However, we must not fear, instead, trust God to be our safe place.

MondayWe’ve all made mistakes in the past; however, don’t allow those mistakes to hinder us from fulfilling God’s purpose in our lives. Remember, He loves us and will protect, forgive and will never forsake us. Trust God to bless our mess and begin to complete the work that He started in us.

TuesdayGod made us relational and if there are times that we find ourselves judging others for one reason or another, let’s repent and remember that all of us are in need of God’s grace to do our assigned work for the Kingdom.

WednesdayBeing a Christian is not easy, and many of us may long for heaven. However, every moment on earth matters, so let’s purpose to live for Christ and serve others until He calls us home.

ThursdayWe must use our time wisely when God gives us a ministry assignment, take it to heart and respond immediately to the glory of God. Now is the time.

Friday – Always remember that while we’re doing our Kingdom assignments, never neglect the fellowship with Christ that will help to balance our days. Let’s be grateful that we are chosen by God and remain faithful where He has us right now.

Saturday–

***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

Redeeming the Time

Time is our most precious gift because we only have a set amount of it.  You cannot add to it or take away from it.  But what we can do is put that time to use.

We came into this world with nothing and we will leave the world with nothing.  All that we have between the beginning and the end is a gift of God’s grace and that includes the little dash on your tomb stone.  That simple dash will represent the time given to you.  It was given in trust with the expectation that you would hold onto it and put it to the best and the  highest use.

If you are going to win, you must redeem your time because the days are evil.

Right now is the time to redeem our time!
