Overview: We may sometimes be sorrowful about things of our past, however, we must look ahead and allow the Holy Spirit to help us rebuild the walls of our lives for the future. Remember to give God praise that we are no longer condemned with the world because Jesus went to that old rugged cross to pay for our sins. He shed His blood to redeem us from the sin debt and reconciled us back to the Father.

There may be areas in our natural lives where we are still trying to figure things out but God wants us to know that He is present and cares enough to give us wise counsel.  We must appreciate God’s Word and obey His instructions.  In doing so, this will help us to put Him first in all things. The results will be that of a childlike joy which will remain.

Instead of being sorrowful about our circumstances, we must learn to appreciate the goodness of God and the simple gifts of life that He gives us daily. Let’s be honest with ourselves and God when we suffer pain and rejection. He sees and knows about each of us and He will give us comfort and confidence to know that we’re going to make it through life’s journey with His loving care.

Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

A Time to Rebuild

Ecclesiastes 3:3 tells us that there is a time to tear down and a time to build up.  Solomon tells us that life is really a matter of timing — for timing is everything.  Timing is important in our spiritual life.  It is critical to live our lives with an awareness of God’s timing.

It is time for us, as a nation to come together.  It is time for us to tear down all walls, relationships, and even nations, as well as a time to rebuild.

1.    We need to tear down the walls of hate and build up the gates of peace.

2.    We need to tear down the castles of mistrust and build up the towers of honesty.

3.    We need to tear down the prisons of prejudice and build up the palaces of understanding.

This is our time to come together to build up our courage, to advocate for the needy, to feed the hungry and a time to proclaim the acceptable year of God’s favor.  Let us tear down that which keeps up blind, deaf, indifferent and selfish.  Let us build up that which brings joy, courage, peace, love, and hope.

For who knows, maybe we were sent here in this place for such a time as this.
