This Week’s Overview:

Sunday    In order for our country to heal itself of injustices of the past, we must look to the future through the lens of God’s love.  We must overcome evil with good by extending mercy, grace and forgiveness.

Monday  Let’s be wise to build our lives on the foundation of Jesus Christ. When calamities or injustices come, we’ll be accustomed to standing on and practicing the Word of God. This lifestyle will keep us from falling into ruins.

Tuesday –  We must remember, God is working things out for our good. He may prune our lives so that we can be more fruitful and not barren. Allow Him to make something beautiful of our lives.

Wednesday Transformation may be a slow process even grievous at times. However, we must trust God to prepare blessings with perfect wisdom and care. Then, wait patiently for Him to change our lives for His glory.

ThursdayAs we practice living God’s Word, let’s be mindful to share it with everyone, especially the children. In doing so, we will leave a legacy of faith for the next generation.

FridayNo matter how difficult life becomes, don’t fear.  Hold on to God’s unchanging hand and He will hold us up in every situation we face.

***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Loving God, when the pain and injustice around me breaks my heart, help me to still believe in Your love and power to transform and heal. Help me to point with my life to Your justice, mercy, and love.

Inspirational Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

A Sea of Blessings

When we count our blessings, we are sure to discover that we have far more than we thought we did.  In fact, when we focus on our blessings, something wonderful occurs.  God gives us more!  God loves it when we are thankful for the abundance, He has provided for us.  He loves it even more when we joyfully share our blessings with those around us, spreading the good without asking for anything in return.  Our appreciation makes God smile, and then we receive even more blessings to be grateful for.

Blessings don’t have to be big.  In fact, the most treasured blessings come from what we give away, rather than what we receive.  With the greater gifts of faith, hope, and love, we are immersed in an abundant sea of blessings, more than we could ever count.

The Scripture says to those who have, more shall be given and when we ask, we shall receive.  So, look all around you right now, in this moment, and count your blessings, big and small.  Then watch as even more blessings come into your life in the most amazing ways. God says in Malachi 3:10 “…and see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing.”

“My friends, make time for God every day because He always has time for you.” — Sister Clovia
