This Week’s Overview:

Sunday    God may call us to relinquish one career for another. However, He wants us to surrender our lives to Christ daily. Hear His tender voice and follow Him as we serve others in love.

Monday  God used spiritual mentors to help develop us in our spiritual gifts. When His hand is heavy upon us, take courage and begin to mentor others in the same manner. In doing so, this influence will perpetuate the life of the Church.

Tuesday –  We must admit, however, that there is conflict and division in the Church and Jesus wants to clean house inside out. It’s imperative that each of us examine ourselves and repent of any sin that hinders the growth of the Church. Let’s surrender our all to Him despite the perils that are all around us.

Wednesday In the midst of all the chaos, let’s thank God for Jesus’ sacrifice to set us free from sin and death. Begin to transfer this love to the spiritually deprived so, they too, might desire to be liberated.

ThursdayRemember, if we say that we love God, we must love our neighbors also. Let justice and righteousness flow like a never-ending stream of life.

FridayMinistry work can be exhausting. Be sure to take time to rest, catch your breath and give others a break also.

***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Wearing Our Courage

Inspirational Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

Completely Surrender to God

Are you seeking great things for yourself, instead of seeking to be a great person?  God wants us to be in a closer relationship with Him than simply receiving His gifts. He wants us to get to know Him. If we have only come as far as asking God for things, we have never come to the point of understanding in the least bit of what surrender really means.

Nothing is more powerful than a surrendered life in the hands of God.  Letting go and surrendering to the Lord is not giving up. It is giving in to a power greater than anything that causes us to fear or worry.  Sometimes we have to let go of the life we pictured in order to have the life that God has planned. Let go and let the Lord be mighty for us in all things.

Take a daily Sabbath in Jesus, just breathe and be…

Breathe in peace, breathe out stress.
Breathe in faith, breathe out worry.
Breathe in courage, breathe out fear.
Breathe in calm, breathe out chaos.
Breathe in love, breathe in gratitude.

Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD, praise ye the LORD. — Psalm 150:6

“My friends, make time for God every day because He always has time for you.” — Sister Clovia
