Overview:

Sunday –  If we are emotionally exhausted from our experiences in life, take our burdens to the Lord. He will encourage us in ways that will bring spiritual restoration

Monday – Trouble doesn’t last always. Set our affections on things eternal and be encouraged. Let’s be thankful for the imagery of our new home imagery in heaven that God has shown us through His Word while we continue the journey through this land.

Tuesday –  In this hostile world, if our enemies treat us unfairly, ask God to give us wisdom and grace to show them a better way. Perhaps, as they move toward a relationship with God, they too will be encouraged.

Wednesday Don’t let the past drain us. Instead, embrace a new way of life and allow the Holy Spirit to transform us more into the image of Jesus.

ThursdayGod’s Word is more than hacks! Be sure to study the entire Bible, live godly and begin to appreciate God’s unfailing love and forgiveness through the sacrifice of Jesus, who redeemed us with His own precious blood!

FridayConsequently, let’s develop a servant’s heart and truly begin to look out for the interest of others rather than focusing only on ourselves.

***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Inspirational Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

Mothers Transformed by Grace

There is no “hood” like motherhood.  As a mother, our job is to take care of the possible and trust God for the impossible.

We come from a generation of mothers who were miracle workers.  With little money they always managed to put clean clothes on us, take a few cans of food and make it seem like a feast, and squeeze their budget so that they could buy us that thing we just had to have.  Mothers were our nurse, teacher, counsellor, cook, maid, and friend and they would still greet the world with a smile.

How did our mothers do it?  “Grace, grace, God’s grace.  Grace that will pardon and cleanse within.”

  • It’s okay to leave something undone.  Depend on God’s Grace to cover our insufficiency.
  • It’s okay to rely on Grace rather than perfection.  Only Jesus does all things well.

Be the mom God has called you to be.  Extend God’s Grace to your family and trust His Grace to redeem your mistakes and sins.  Our children do not need to see a super mom.  They need to see a mom who needs a super God.  As a mother we were “a hot mess” who was transformed by Grace.

“…yet not I but the grace of God within me.” 1 Corinthians 15:10

“My friends, make time for God every day because He always has time for you.” — Sister Clovia
