Overview:

Sunday –  Jesus knows us intimately, completely and perfectly! As His friends, let’s show our gratitude by following Him daily.

Monday – In our private and public life, we must allow the Holy Spirit to help us to walk in integrity as we boldly live out the gospel so others will know Jesus, our Friend.

TuesdayLet’s not be ignorant of Satan’s devices. He wants to intimidate us and distract us from sharing God’s Word with those who are being victimized and snared. However, Jesus rescued us from Satan’s power! Let us witness in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Wednesday Satan will try to tempt us but we must not allow our sinful nature to drain us. Instead, look to Jesus to give us strength and allow the Holy Spirit to sustain us while in the furnace of affliction. God is faithful to deliver us!

ThursdayIn our quest to win souls for the Kingdom, we find that seemingly bad things continue to happen to good people and they are perplexed. Remind ourselves and others as we replay and rehearse these tragedies in our minds that we must trust our friend Jesus through the storms.  Nothing can separate us from His love. He is our refuge and He will comfort

Friday Whatever, our ministry assignment is, we must never compare ourselves with others. We must put ourselves to a test when we begin to chase after inferior things of the world instead of God. Begin to thank God for our God-given gifts, use them for His glory and put an end to envy. The spirit of envy is only a trick of the devil to try to prevent God’s people from executing His plan.

***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

Everyone Needs the Right Hero — Jesus is Mine!

My hero does not hide behind a mask.  He does not need a cape to fly.  He is stronger than the ocean and bigger than the sky.  He can heal the sick and wounded.  He can walk across the sea.  But the most amazing power is how He watches over me.  Thank you, Jesus for being my Hero.

Jesus Christ is more than just a super hero.  He is the Alpha and Omega. Everything created in the universe was created by Him and for Him.  Yet, despite His immense and immeasurable greatness, He is good and kind with no darkness in Him.

Super heroes in comics and movies can only save people from trouble; they cannot save them from sin and death.

My Hero, the Lord Jesus Christ, saved us once, and for all eternity.

“My friends, make time for God every day because He always has time for you.” — Sister Clovia
