Overview:

Sunday –  When God calls us to a difficult task, we must rely on His presence and strength. Trust Him to provide what we need and to give us boldness.

Monday – Many of our loved ones have passed on. However, their legacies linger not just in a plaque, but in their life experiences. Let’s look for ways to perpetuate their memory by showing kindness to the living.

TuesdayWe can be encouraged knowing, though we miss our loved ones, we’re never alone. The Holy Spirit is our constant companion and will comfort us in troubling times.

Wednesday Many people that we may encounter may experience not only the empty bed of a loved one but they themselves may be empty of hope. Therefore, we are called to go and make disciples. We must be ready to share with them the hope that we have in Jesus, the Savior of the world.

ThursdayAs we mature spiritually, we can be confident of God’s love for us. As He sends us out to share the gospel with those who oppose Christ, don’t fear. Allow the Holy Spirit to fill us with love to enable us to develop a genuine relationship with them.

Friday Open our eyes and hands as we freely give to the lost and needy. God is faithful to be here for us and give us joy as we extend ourselves to others.

***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

Graduation Class of 2019

Graduation is not the end, it is the beginning.  It is a time of reflection of the hard work of the past, the accomplishments of the present, and the possibilities of the future.

Be confident of this one thing:  God began a good work in you and He will finish it no matter how things look trust that you are moving toward victory!  Here is God’s graduation gift to you:

  • The courage to speak must be matched by the wisdom to listen.
  • Success is never final and failure is never fatal.  It is your courage through both that counts.
  • Remember the 3Rs – respect for yourself, respect for others, and responsibility for all of  your actions.

God has planted greatness in you.  Let today be the beginning of a great adventure as you step into the gifts He has given you.  For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give  you an expected end.  — Jeremiah 29:11

“My friends, make time for God every day because He always has time for you.” — Sister Clovia
