Overview:

Sunday –  Throughout scriptures, God emphasizes the worth of songs in ceremonies, battles and worship. Let’s sing unto the Lord a new song as we make melody in our hearts together.

Monday – God has given each of us an assignment. We must never feel that our efforts are a waste of time. Instead, continue to do good because the blessing of an eternal reward is coming.

TuesdayDuring our interaction with others, we may not always give or listen to good counsel. When hindrances or discouragements become a factor, pray that God will open our hearts. Ask Him for understanding and a compassionate heart to receive and to hear.

Wednesday God chose us as His masterpiece and He gave us power to care for His creation. Remember, we’re not alone, God is always at work on our behalf. Let’s serve Him and others with our whole heart.

ThursdayWhen we’re facing tough days, look to Jesus for help. He will surround us with His love and encourage us to fight the good fight of faith.

Friday –  In closing, as we look around, there’s gross darkness in this world today. However, as we sing songs to worship God and to edify the body of Christ, we’ll be able to shine as bright lights. The Holy Spirit will fill us with the joy of the Lord as we continue to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with those who have an ear to hear.

***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

Accepting God’s Gift of Patience

Patience is a gift from God. We want the gift of patience, but often our problem is that we are not really thrilled with how it is packaged.  Patience comes wrapped inside trials and hardships.

God’s gift of patience is one He expects us to unwrap and use.  This is such a practical gift.  We are going to need it for ourselves, for our relationships with God and others.  God gives us this gift of patience and then graciously puts us into situations where we will need to use it.

When you feel challenged in your life, remember to take some time to step back and reflect.  Don’t force the answers.  Open yourself to listening to God,  He will reveal His truths to you.  You must be patient for these truths so accept God’s gift of patience.

Remember when God is silent, He’s not still.  Be patient and wait on Him.  He may just come walking to you out of your storm.  The next time you think God has left you, think of the beautiful miracle of spring and how God quietly brings it to us each year.  Patience is not the ability to wait, but how we act when we are waiting.

“My friends, make time for God every day because He always has time for you.” — Sister Clovia
