Overview: In a world of turmoil, many of our days are filled with stress and disorder. These are the times where believers must take our burdens to the Lord. He will give us peace that surpasses all understanding. God’s amazing love demonstrated through Jesus’ death and resurrection should compel us to unselfishly lay down our lives for the brethren in service to God.

How can we forget the marvelous things that He has done in our lives? Let’s began to truly focus on the person of God, that He is Love, He is merciful, He is forgiving and so on. In doing so, the Holy Spirit will fill our hearts with praise as we make a joyful noise unto God alone for His goodness!

In response to God’s flourishing care for us, we must thank Him for the harvest of seasons, land and crops that sustains our very existence every day. So, while we are in a season of harvest, let’s not forget the greatest crops of importance to God which is, the human soul. Every soul has a natural instinct to know God but they don’t always pursue Him.

As we encounter loved ones, friends and acquaintances who are longing for something but are not satisfied, let’s direct them to God which is where the heart’s true home is.

***The Scriptures for this week’s lessons are taken from the NAMES OF GOD BIBLE (NOG).

The Names of God Bible (NOG) accurately translates the meaning of the original texts into clear, everyday language. While most translations obscure the names and titles of God by replacing them with just a few English words such as GodLord, or LORDThe Names of God Bible restores the transliterations of ancient names—such as Yahweh, El Shadday, El Elyon, and Adonay—to help the reader better understand the rich meaning of God’s names that are found in the original Hebrew and Aramaic text.

One of the best ways to get to know God on a deeper level is to know his names and titles as they are revealed in Scripture. If you are interested in more information about the meaning of the names of God, the print edition of The Names of God Bible includes commentary by bestselling author Ann Spangler, sharing background information, key Scripture passages, devotional readings, and Bible promises connected to each name.   To learn more, visit Names of God Bible.***

Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson   –  In Everything Give Thanks

It’s easy to praise and give thanks when all is sunny and bright,

But have we learned to thank our God in the dark troublesome night?

Do we thank Him then?

Thank Him in sickness and hardship and all the problems that come,

We know He is on His holy throne and when we are in His fold.

Everything that touches our life is good for the soul.

In everything give thanks!

Happy Thanksgiving!  May your stuffing be tasty and turkey moist and plump!  May your mashed potatoes and gravy have not even one lump!  May your yams be delicious and your rolls piping hot!   May the apple, blueberry, sweet potato or pumpkin pies take the prize.  Here’s to hoping that your Thanksgiving dinner stays off  your thighs.
