Overview: Fear can paralyze us, therefore, we must put our faith in God. When He ask us to do something, He will give us the power and strength to do it. There are times when we become spiritually fatigued and fail to recognize our disconnect with God. We must repent, wake up and hold fast to what we have received and heard. Then, allow the Holy Spirit to instruct us in our daily walk. By no means, should we condemn ourselves.

Even biblical characters of old had to learn to call on the Lord in times of trouble. Keep in mind that God controls the movement of the sun.  How much more will He care for us when we pray and believe? He not only hears our prayers, He also sees our tears.

Jesus, the Good Shepherd, lays down His life for the sheep, and cares for His sheep daily. Therefore, when we become anxious about anything that He ask us to do, we must seek His love and peace.  He is faithful to comfort and settle us.

None of us have reached perfection because of our fleshly nature, however, Jesus sees our potential. God wants ordinary laborers to do His bidding in the earth by seeing others through His eyes. We must allow our new identity in Christ to define who we really are, then we can begin to serve as ambassadors of Christ, reconciling others to Him.

***The Scriptures for this week’s lessons are taken from the International Standard Version (ISV).  The ISV is the first modern Bible translation in any language to provide an exclusive textual apparatus comparing the text of the famed Dead Sea Scrolls with the traditional Masoretic text of the Hebrew Tanakh (i.e., the “Old Testament”).  The ISV is intended for liturgical and pulpit uses as well as for devotional reading, Bible study, and reading in the home. It is intended to be a moderately literal translation and seeks to avoid the paraphrasing tendencies of some modern versions. It’s goal is to be a compromise between formal equivalence and functional equivalence by attempting to stay as close to the source text as possible without losing communication. The target reading level in English is 7th-8th grade. More information is available at isv.org.***

Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson   – Harvest Time

The theme verse for our Harvest Fellowship Luncheon is Matthew 9:37-38 which tells us two things:

  1. Jesus saw the great harvest of lost people.  He said, “The harvest is plentiful.”
  2. Jesus saw the great need for workers for the harvest.  He said, “The workers are few.”

We need to see as Jesus saw and feel as Jesus felt so that we will do as Jesus did.

Love lost people for His sake!
