Overview: We must never stop praying because Jesus will never stop interceding for us. There may be times when we don’t know what to say but Jesus understands and by the power of the Holy Spirit, He speaks on our behalf to the Father with love and wisdom.

Oftentimes we may find ourselves in some sort of crisis.  These can be dark and fearful times. It is then, we must remember our prayer partner, God.  Let’s take refuge in God and put our trust in Him. He may give us a song to sing, a word, or a scripture so that praise can be conceived in us during that time of crisis until the trouble passes. Remember, He cares and He will help us. These experiences can make us stronger to be in position to help others who are in need.

When our plans are interrupted by someone with a genuine need, let’s ask God to give us wisdom on how to respond with compassion. Unbeknown to us, this could be a divine appointment for that particular moment. We must step out of our comfort zone to help where we can.

The Lord will watch over us like an eagle watches over their young. No matter how difficult our afflictions, relationships or circumstances are, we can take courage and have comfort in knowing that, when we feel like we’re falling, the Lord will be with us. Don’t worry about mistakes made when we were younger, wishing we could have change the outcome. We must not carry those burdens, instead, thank God for Jesus, who set us free from the law of sin and death.  Let’s start praising Him that we have been forgiven of all of our sins.

***The Scriptures for this week’s lessons are taken from the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB). The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB) is a trusted, original translation of God’s Word. A team of more than 100 scholars from 17 denominations pursued two ideals with every translation decision: each word must reflect clear, contemporary English and each word must be faithful to the original languages of the Bible.  For a deeper engagement with the Holman Christian Standard Bible, visit hcsb.org.***

Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson   – LET’S KNEEL FOR JESUS!

There was a whole lot of talk last week about taking a knee during the playing of our National Anthem.  “To kneel or not to kneel” — seems to have been the question last Sunday, the day most Americans partake of two things:  go to church; worship God and watch football games.

In our lessons this week we learn that Jesus is the perfect prayer partner who intercedes for us with immeasurable kindness and the Lord is the perfect parent who nurtures His children and comfort us in difficult times.  So, let’s kneel for Jesus.

Getting on our knees makes a real difference – not in protest or in pride, but in PRAYER.

Praying for each other, praying for unity, and praying for America and our leaders should drive and keep us on our knees praying.  Kneeling is a posture of reverence, most often experienced in the House of Worship, not on the football field.  Kneeling in prayer is also a way to admit our flaws, to confess our sins, to ask for forgiveness and to commit ourselves to seeking a better world as we confront injustices.

Let us get on our knees and ask for the blessings of the Lord.  Then let’s stand to our feet and do what our Father asked us to do.  When life gives us more than we can stand … KNEEL.  Let’s kneel for Jesus.
