Overview: We must keep our eyes on the Author and Finisher of our faith, Jesus the Great conductor. As we allow Him to direct our lives, we will have peace and harmony with Him and others. We must not allow ourselves to become distracted and fall into sin. This can hinder how well we run this race. The devil will always appeal to the lust of our flesh, the lust of our eyes and the pride of life to cause us to stumble. Let’s learn to be content in what state we’re in and know that Jesus is the best portion of all.  We not only have a relationship with Him but He is our Source. Again, we’re in a spiritual race and we’re all on the same team. If a brother or sister falters, we must encourage them to finish their race well. Praying in the spirit for all things are important, especially our children. We must let them see our works of faith and perhaps, they too will want to model us and begin to pray themselves as they receive the assurance that God is with them. Through our sweet and sour sufferings of life, we must trust God during our afflictions. We must never become bitter, instead, we must surrender to the Author and Finisher of our faith and allow Jesus to help and strengthen us to be where He wants us to be.

Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson  – The Fire of Anger

This week’s lessons, starting with Saturday, deal with anger management how to fight the fires of anger by:

  • Keep our eyes on Jesus our Savior as He directs our lives
  • God is the source of happiness and He gives us the best portion of all
  • Encourage each other to run the race of life
  • Daily prayers lessens daily worries and keeps our anger at bay
  • Savor the unexpected sweetness of sour moments

We all get angry.  Contrary to what some believe, anger is a God-given emotion.  God gets angry and we are made in His image.  Anger is nothing more than an outward expression of hurt, fear and frustration.  Anger doesn’t solve anything; it builds nothing, but it can destroy everything.

Righteous anger is controlled by the Holy Spirit that causes us to love God and to love His people.  Sinful anger is to be condemned.  It is horrible and it is hurtful.  It will destroy our relationships and our Christian witness to others unless we repent.

Is your anger controlling you or is the Holy Spirit controlling your anger?

Ephesians 4:26-27  (GW) – Be ye angry and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil.
