Overview: There are many things to distract us in this world. People rejecting Christ can cause us to become weary. We must keep our minds on Jesus and He will give us rest.  Let’s keep in mind that we must guard our hearts because this will reveal what we really value. God wants us to treasure our relationships with one another; this will leave a legacy that will never fade away. Granted, there are times when situations are so overwhelming that we lose heart and don’t know how to pray as we ought. However, we are never alone; we have Jesus and the Holy Spirit making intercession for us. While building relationships, we may have a tendency to judge others; we must ask God to forgive us. No one is beyond God’s grace. Let’s ask God to extend mercy to help us from throwing stones. In closing, we must have faith in God’s ability to do all things well. This kind of faith in our Sovereign God will make all the difference in every situation as we continue to build the kingdom.

Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

The Eyes of Our Heart

In Ephesians 1:18, Paul prayed that the eyes of our heart may be enlightened in order that we may know the hope to which God has called us to the riches of His glorious inheritance as His holy people.  Even though God has opened our eyes to see and believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, we still must seek Him to enlighten the eyes of our heart so that we will come to a deeper understanding of His great truth.

“The Eyes of Our Heart” refers to our total inner person, which includes the intellect, the emotion, and the will.  In other words, this is not just an intellectual ability to understand these truths.  It is a heart thing. We need the Holy Spirit to enlighten the eyes of our heart to the great truths of the Bible.

If we are having problems in our Christian life, if things don’t seem to be working as they should, let us continue to read and study the operating manual – the Bible.  We cannot understand the Bible by our human insight and wisdom.  To understand it, we must continue to ask God to enlighten the eyes of our heart.  He wants us to know the hope of His calling, the riches of His glory, and the greatness of His power toward us.

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.  Luke 12:34
