This Week’s Overview:

Monday   God’s Word is powerful! We must never give up on life. Instead, seek the wisdom of God in every situation and apply His Word to our lives.

Tuesday –  Life demands our time, however, we must begin to embrace and welcome quiet time with God. Allow Him to saturate us with His unfailing shelter of protection and give us peace.

Wednesday Though we don’t see God, we can be assured and thankful for His omnipresence. He will preserve us from dangers, seen and unseen.

ThursdayHow can we know the Father? As we continue to study God’s Word daily, we will better understand the character of God. By capsulizing the life and love of Jesus, we can know the Father.

FridayWe mentioned earlier that God is always with us. However, there are times in life when things are so challenging and difficult that we question if God is present! Begin to thank and trust our Sovereign God, not only for the good things in our lives but also, the difficult experiences that we may be facing. Who knows if those difficult moments are not blessings in disguise? Think about it!

***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Inspirational Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

The Blessings from COVID-19
The corona virus  shut down schools, jobs, airplane flights, the economy and social events, but it didn’t shut down God.  God said no weapon formed against us shall prosper.    It has been a year since the virus and this week over 500,000 Americans have died from it.  The world is different today than at any time we have ever seen, BUT GOD IS STILL GOD!

We don’t know how to walk the fine line between caution and living in fear, BUT GOD IS STILL GOD!  We are faced with many choices that we’ve never had to make before, BUT GOD IS STILL GOD!  God is the best doctor and prayer is the best medicine.  No disaster can overtake us.  No plague can come near our dwelling, for God shall give His angels charge over us to keep us in all our ways because GOD IS STILL GOD!

COVID-19 reminds us of who God is.    He has shut down the world like a small village and there is nothing that power and money can do.  He will reopen it when His time is right.  Let’s trust Jesus more than we trust hand sanitizer.  Let’s cover ourselves not only with a mask, but also with prayer, because GOD IS STILL GOD!

The Lord has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble.  Proverbs 16:4 (ESV)

“My friends, make time for God every day because He always has time for you.” — Sister Clovia
