This Week’s Overview:
Sunday – Though it’s normal to have fears, God encourages us to be strong and courageous during these difficult times. Remember, He promises to be with us always.
Monday – Therefore, as unpredictable as our life was or is now, a prayer of praise to Jesus for changing our lives will keep us focused and grateful. Listen to the testimonies of others and let’s be inspired to praise and exalt the name of Jesus together for His marvelous works.
Tuesday – During our darkest seasons, put our hope in Jesus. Don’t turn away, instead, rest in His promises for today and all eternity.
Wednesday – It’s vitally important to remember our victories, but never hijack praises that are due God or others. When we are acknowledged or complimented by someone for anything, give glory and honor to God!
Thursday – God has given us gifts to serve as He pleases. Some people seem to naturally have the gift of mercy to genuinely care for the needy. Let’s never covet anyone’s gift. Instead, pray to God to reveal His purpose for us, then begin to use those gifts for His glory.
Friday – Everybody needs somebody. Those who mentored us to help shape our lives were angels sent by God. Let us do likewise to help those whom God has entrusted in our care.
***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.
To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.
The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Inspirational Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson
God’s Plan for Winter 2020
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention warned that a second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic will be far more dire because it coincides with the flu season.
The supermarkets are stockpiling groceries and storing them early to prepare for the fall and winter months. The medical industry is preparing for the worse winter season and stated that they will not be able to handle the wave of coronavirus and flu that is coming this winter. WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO?
Thanks be to God! He has given us our plan in this week’s lessons:
Monday: Praise God wherever we are.
Tuesday: Our hope is in God.
Wednesday: Pour it out before God.
Thursday: Cheerfully use our gift of mercy to help others.
Friday: Let’s be mentors and encouragers and share our faith.
God says “When the time is right, I, the Lord, will make it happen.” Isaiah 60:22. God is in control! Let’s work His plan!
