This Week’s Overview:
Sunday – During our crisis, look to God. His unexplainable, ever comforting, surrounding presence will sustain us and bring us through hard times.
Monday – Yes! God is also Omniscient! Therefore, He knows every detail of our lives from the beginning until the end. Trust Him to bring it to completion for His glory.
Tuesday – As we consider the brevity of life, it’s short compared to eternity. Though many of our loved ones have passed on, death can’t separate a believer from God or us. One day we will all be in heaven. Comfort one another with these words.
Wednesday – True, life on earth is transient. Therefore, before we leave, we must show God’s love to one another and remind each other that we matter to God, especially the unsaved as we evangelize the world!
Thursday – Keep in mind, as we witness to others, we must be gentle, peaceable and apt to teach them. Don’t fight, instead, ask God to soften our hearts, then lovingly stand for right but strive to unify.
Friday – We may face opposition as we minister to others. However, we must not respond to criticism with anger or debate. Instead, ask God for wisdom and be patient to listen and learn why people have certain beliefs. Prayerfully, we will have an opportunity to win them over to the truth.
***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.
To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.
The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Inspirational Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson
The 5AM Bible Study Ministry Charge
The governing scripture for the Ministry is 2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” For over 25 years this verse has been our foundation. Let’s break down the key parts of this verse to examine our charge from God.
- Do your best – We are charged to do our best in this fallen world by repenting and staying on the narrow path.
- Present yourself to God as one approved – We are charged to live up to the standard of approval that our Father has given us. He has chosen us to be righteous.
- Be a worker who is not ashamed – We are charged to be workers for the Lord, always abounding in His work. We will not be ashamed if we say we believe. The way we live will line up with God and each other.
- Correctly handle the word of truth – We are charged to correctly learn and teach all that has been revealed to us in God’s Word, to correctly interpret the scripture, and to rightly divide the “word of truth”.
We are charged to search and study the scriptures daily, to discover what the Holy Spirit will teach us, and to do our best to present ourselves to God as one approved worker who does not need to be ashamed of the truth. This is our Charge.
