This Week’s Overview:

Sunday    We must not spread false reports about one another. Let’s hear the whole story around the circumstances. Then, begin to pray and rely on the Holy Spirit to bring about unity in the body of Christ.

Monday  We are instructed to make peace with trouble. Don’t be anxious, instead, put our hope and trust in Jesus to work out a favorable future.

Tuesday –  Remember, we are witnesses for Christ. Pray for an open door, even if it’s risky, to share the gospel with someone that we would generally avoid.

Wednesday Even if our struggles are around family crises or Church issues, let’s share with each other our victories. In doing so, we can celebrate and declare that God’s grace is sufficient to reunite and restore us.

ThursdaySometimes, it’s difficult to witness to those who oppose Christ. Nevertheless, it’s imperative that we first examine any sin in our lives and repent. Then, let others who are living in sin know, there is no sin too great that God won’t forgive.

FridayIn today’s society, a major focus should be on engaged and married couples. Why? Because the enemy wants to divide and conquer families. Many couples make vows to one another and they falter. However, if we have an opportunity to witness to their brokenness, let’s remind them that nothing can separate them from God’s love.

***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Inspirational Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

The Seal of the Holy Spirit

The Bible says in Ephesians 1:13 “… after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,”

The Holy Spirit is the Christian’s seal.  God’s own spirit comes to take up residence in us.  The promised Holy Spirit identifies God’s people as His inheritance.  We are spiritual millionaires and have no right to live like poor people when we have the seal of the Holy Spirit.  He provides the inward assurance that we belong to God as His children.

By giving us the Holy Spirit, God sealed or stamped us as His own at our conversion.  To be sealed with the Holy Spirit is the gracious gift of God, where He demonstrated that our relationship with Him is permanent and no one can pluck us out of His Hands.

“My friends, make time for God every day because He always has time for you.” — Sister Clovia
