This Week’s Overview:

Sunday  We are God’s anointed ones. He protects us from dangers seen and unseen. Let’s thank God for His divine intervention.

Monday  Keep in mind that we must keep our hearts clean for God to bless and use us. If, for any reason, we are harboring (holding on to) hatred or repent, let’s ask God to give us a loving heart.

TuesdaySin is progressive. Big problems do not develop overnight, but grow larger each day. If we have moved away from God and notice that our troubles are raging, we must quickly repent and run back to Jesus!

Wednesday If we’ve been hurt by someone or whether we’ve hurt someone out of retaliation, remember God is always demonstrating grace towards us. He has forgiven us and cast our iniquities into the depths of the sea. Therefore, we too, must forgive those who have wronged us. We ask God daily to forgive our trespasses, as we forgive those who have trespassed against us.

ThursdayHave there been times when it seems that there are no changes in our life’s circumstances?  We’re stuck, frozen!  Well, it’s not that God doesn’t hear us or care about us. He wants us to wait patiently on Him and trust His timing. God will surely deliver us.

FridaySaints, there is consolation in knowing that God’s love is unlimited. He always has time for us. We are God’s anointed. He will sustain us and carry us throughout our journey, if we call upon Him in prayer.

The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Inspirational Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

Wait On The Lord!

At the beginning of the New Year, a lot of resolutions are made.  As time goes by, many of those aspirations to do better or reach a certain goal, have already fallen by the wayside.  As hard as it is sometimes, things take a good dose of patience, trying again, and waiting.

Wherever your heart is leading you this year, wait on God’s timing.  He will never fail you.  Things may not always happen exactly the way we plan or in our own timing; hold onto God’s unchanging hand and be of good courage.

Remember:

  • Joseph waited thirteen years
  • Abraham waited twenty-five years
  • Moses waited forty years
  • Jesus waited thirty years

If God is making you wait, you are in good company.  “Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart; wait, I say, on the Lord.”  Psalm 27:14

“My friends, make time for God every day because He always has time for you.” — Sister Clovia
