Overview:

Sunday  Despite our differences, we have been called to live out our new identity in Christ. We must allow the Holy Spirit to empower us to be peaceful with one another and to put forth every effort to keep the unity.

Monday -When dealing with negative people, be careful not to become arrogant. Instead, make the most out of each opportunity by allowing the Holy Spirit to help us to respond with grace in the love of Jesus.

Tuesday –  As we celebrate our new life in Christ, remember, baptism symbolizes more than water. We now belong to Christ and we are free from the law of sin and death!

Wednesday However, we’re not exempt from the temptations of this world. When sin is lurking, turn and run! Pray and ask God to help us from giving into our old nature and to resist the devil.

ThursdayKeep in mind, God valued us enough to send Jesus to redeem us. Don’t worry about our frailties, instead, let’s appreciate our worth in Christ.

FridayJesus is the True Vine. He’s always ready to spiritually nourish us and to give us peace, hope and strength. Abide in Him, stay rooted and allow Him to use us to be peacemakers. Now, go and bear much fruit for the Kingdom.

***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Inspirational Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

What’s In Your Cup?

God’s Promises

Sometimes you get the best stuff from social media.  God can take a simple post and work it into a lesson.  He did that with me this week on Facebook.

“You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you and spills your coffee everywhere.  Why did you spill the coffee?  You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup.  Had there been tea in your cup, you would have spilled tea.  The point is whatever is inside the cup, is what will spill out.

Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you, whatever is inside of you will come out.  It’s easy to fake it until you get rattled.  So, we have to ask ourselves, what’s in my cup?  When life gets tough, what spills out?   Is it Joy, gratefulness, peace, humility or does anger, bitterness and harsh words come out? You choose!”

What a lesson we learned in this Facebook post.  Today let us work toward filling our cup with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, kindness and gentleness for others.  Whatever you put in your cup is what spills out when life slaps you in the face.

“My friends, make time for God every day because He always has time for you.” — Sister Clovia
