Overview:
Sunday – Never look at the “bigness” of our circumstances, instead look at the “bigness” of our God. He is greater and is able to conquer every giant in our life.
Monday – No matter how difficult the paths God chooses for us, let’s learn to be content. Trust and rest in His Sovereign intervention for those things that concern us.
Tuesday – We may not always understand the ministry assignment that God gives us, however, we must not run away from it. Instead of being stubborn, let’s cry out and ask God for grace as we accept the task and serve with a willing heart.
Wednesday – Let’s not be ignorant of the forces of darkness in the unseen world. They are real! Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy! However, we must not fear, instead, trust God to fight our battles and stay focused on our assignments.
Thursday – Just as the Good Shepherd shows us compassion every day, we too must lay down our lives for others. As we demonstrate the characteristics of love, let’s pray for those who are in desperate need of a Savior to be rescued and that their heart will be opened to receive the gospel.
Friday – In order for us to be effective witnesses, we must hide the word of God in our hearts richly. As we follow Jesus’ example, the Holy Spirit will allow God’s word to sprout from our hearts and produce fruit for the Kingdom.
***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.
To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.
The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson
Open the Eyes of Our Heart
In Ephesians 1:18, Paul prayed that the eyes of the people’s hearts may be enlightened in order that they may know the hope to which God has called them, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people.
Sometimes we need to have the eyes of our heart opened. Sometimes we forget that we have a hope of eternal life and that the things on earth are not that important in the scheme of things. At other times we are blinded to God’s power. We know it is there, but we do not allow His power to flow because we do not think or believe that God would do something. And then there are times when we don’t see beyond our own needs and miss the needs of others. The eyes of our heart needs to be enlightened so that we can allow God to work for us.
Lord open the eyes of our heart to you
Open our hearts and eyes to what is true
This world is aching and needing, just for you
This, after all, is nothing new
Open the eyes to our heart Lord
We want to see you
