Overview:

Sunday –  God’s retirement plan requires that we stay ready at any age to do a mighty work when He calls us. Not only will He call us but He will also equip us.

Monday – through our trials the Lord will help us to understand that He is an all wise all powerful and all knowing God who will hold us in His hands if we put our trust in Him.

TuesdayGod did a miraculous work when He transformed us from sinners to saints. Keep in mind, if we falter, we must repent and thank Him for loving us enough to bring us out of the wilderness.

Wednesday Family and friends who are still crushed in spirit and bones have dried up, we must create a safe place for them in love to heal. It’s vitally important to encourage happy hearts by finding ways to stimulate them through laughter.

ThursdayNever give up praying for the lost. God may be gracious to save them. Praise Him for being merciful.

Friday –  In order to truly demonstrate our love for God, we must extend ourselves beyond the neighbors next door. Let’s step outside of our comfort zone and begin to make a difference before retirement.

***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

The Formula for Prayer

Prayer is to the Christian as breathing is to the living.  We need prayer to survive.  Prayer is important for us to gain a deeper relationship with Jesus.  Prayer then must be a part of our everyday life and not just a few minutes on Sunday morning.  Here is the formula for prayer:

ASAP + PUSH = Deeper Relationship with God

ASAP = Always Say A Prayer

We have to pray always, continually without ceasing – at home, at work, when we relax, when we eat or play, at times of joy and sorrow, continually pray without ceasing.  God knows how stressful life is.  He wants to ease our cares and He will respond in HIS time so always say a prayer.

PUSH = Pray Until Something Happens.

The way to get results in prayer is to seek God with an attitude that says: “no matter how long it takes or what I have to do I will keep praying.”

So when life is gets you down — PUSH.  When bills are high and money is low — PUSH.  When people don’t understand you — PUSH.  What does it mean to PUSH? It means, to stay in your prayer posture and pray to Our Lord Jesus Christ, until something happens.  It means to stay in a posture of gratitude, praise and worship for Our Lord and Savior, until something happens.

Prayer Formula is

ASAP + PUSH = Deeper Relationship with God

Use this formula daily and God will answer our constant prayers, even if the answer is not what we expected, keep ASAP + PUSH going.  Something will always happen.
