FOCUS OF THE MONTH

Prophecy of Salvation

SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK

Overview/Theme:

Sunday – God is love and is faithful to love us unconditionally. Let’s not take His love for granted, instead, show His love to others today.

Monday – We belong to the Lord, therefore, our lives should always reflect the character of Jesus. Out of a thankful heart, allow the Holy Spirit to guide us so others will know that we are the children of God.

Tuesday – Never doubt God’s ability to transform our lives or situations. Let’s allow and expect Him to bring fresh light to bring us out of darkness as we seek to follow the ways of the Messiah. In doing so, God will give us strength for our daily journey to live for Him.

Wednesday –Though we are tempted by sin, always remember that sin does not have dominion over us. Jesus removed the barriers of sin between us and God. However, if we falter, repent and allow the Holy Spirit to grow us up in the things of God.

Thursday – God is faithful even when we are faithless. Let’s not waiver, instead, trust Him even when prayers are not answered on our timeline or according to our own desires.

Friday – Our message of faith, not fear to the lost is to share the truth about the invisible God of heaven who manifested Himself through Jesus Christ to draw near to us in earth. Let’s continue to stand in awe as we revere the spectacular love of God and worship Him for His unspeakable Gift to humanity!

***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Inspirational Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

Jesus’ Birthday Wish List

Christmas is Jesus’ birthday.  He has a wish list for us to give him this Christmas.

  1. Forgive others
  2. Be compassionate
  3. Give to those in need
  4. Open  your heart
  5. Witness to the unsaved
  6. Be patient in your troubles
  7. Pray at all times
  8. Be anxious for nothing
  9. Be thankful in everything
  10. Spread peace and joy wherever you go

Our life is a gift from Jesus.  How we live it is a gift to Him.  This Christmas, let’s be inspired by giving, changed by love, filled with peace, and touched by miracles.

“My friends, make time for God every day so He will have time for you.”— Sister Clovia
