Overview/Theme:

Sunday Through our difficult trials, we must allow our hearts to be committed to serving Christ. Though our lives may be threatened, we can have the confident hope that one day heaven will be our home.

MondayTemptation is everywhere in this world. However, when we are tempted to do the wild thing, ask God for grace to resist. In doing so, this will silence the old man and the Holy Spirit will take control to inspire and guide us in the newness of life.

TuesdayKeep in mind that born again believers are now God’s sheep and He is our Good Shepherd. In order for us not to do dumb things and become scattered in this world, we must look to God to protect and guide us on the straight and narrow path.

WednesdayMany will falter, however, we must not give up on our brothers and sisters who are weak in the faith. When they are overtaken in a fault, those who are strong must bear the infirmity of the weak and encourage them to stay in the race called life.

ThursdayThe Holy Spirit will empower us not only to reflect God’s Word but to also project it. This will allow us and others to see the wonder of God’s love. Having hearts that are committed to serve and witness the goodness of the Lord will help us avoid dangerous distractions in this world.

FridayAgain, through all that we, the children of God, experience in this life, we must intentionally worship, praise and thank God for who He is!

***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.

To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.

The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Inspirational Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

Encouragement

If nobody smiled and nobody cheered and nobody helped us along,

If each one, every minute, looked after himself, and the good things all went to the strong,

If nobody cared just a little for you, and nobody thought about me,

And we all stood alone in this battle of life

What a dreary old place this would be.

Everyone needs a bit of encouragement from time to time.  Thanks be to God.  He is our ultimate source of encouragement!

  • Tell everyone who is discouraged, to be strong and don’t be afraid.  God is coming to your rescue. Isaiah 35:4
  • When you have done everything you can do, that’s when God will step in and do what you can’t do. 2 Corinthians 12:10
  • God will meet all of your needs. Philippians 4:19
  • God has said I will never leave you, I will never abandon you. Hebrews 13:5
  • When your heart is overwhelmed go to the Rock that is higher than you.  Psalm 61:2
“My friends, make time for God every day so He will have time for you.”— Sister Clovia
