Helping the Needy
SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK
Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? —Isaiah 58:7 (KJV) (ESV)

Overview/Theme: Representatives of God in the Earth
Sunday – Jesus came to earth to represent God and to show us how to live.
Monday – Therefore, we are admonished to live out our faith by the power of the Holy Spirit today. Whether at home or work, we must revere God and be ready to share the gospel and give an answer for the hope that we have in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Tuesday –Witnessing is not easy because people are darting in and out of our lives. We want to shield them from the dangers of this world, instead we worry. Pray and ask God to watch over them, their going out and their coming in and He will protect them from the evil one.
Wednesday – Time is fleeting so we must remember as representatives of Christ in the earth, to tell those who are living in sin that Jesus saves and He can make all things new. If they would put their trust in Him, one day they too will be able to live in a perfect world called heaven.
Thursday – Consider the works of God’s hand. He has given us all things to enjoy, however, we must not serve the creation over the creator. Instead, begin to sing and give praises to our God with a grateful heart for sustaining us.
Friday – Don’t forget, God looks at the heart of man, therefore, we must be mindful when witnessing to pray and ask God to teach us how to value one another and begin to appreciate the inner beauty of all God’s representatives.
Saturday–
***The English Standard Version (ESV) stands in the classic mainstream of English Bible translations over the past half-millennium. The fountainhead of that stream was William Tyndale’s New Testament of 1526; marking its course were the King James Version of 1611 (KJV), the English Revised Version of 1885 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV), and the Revised Standard Version of 1952 and 1971 (RSV). In that stream, faithfulness to the text and vigorous pursuit of accuracy were combined with simplicity, beauty, and dignity of expression. Our goal has been to carry forward this legacy for a new century.
To this end each word and phrase in the ESV has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, to ensure the fullest accuracy and clarity and to avoid under-translating or overlooking any nuance of the original text. The words and phrases themselves grow out of the Tyndale-King James legacy, and most recently out of the RSV, with the 1971 RSV text providing the starting point for our work. Archaic language has been brought to current usage and significant corrections have been made in the translation of key texts. But throughout, our goal has been to retain the depth of meaning and enduring language that have made their indelible mark on the English-speaking world and have defined the life and doctrine of the church over the last four centuries.
The ESV is an “essentially literal” translation that seeks as far as possible to capture the precise wording of the original text and the personal style of each Bible writer. It seeks to be transparent to the original text, letting the reader see as directly as possible the structure and meaning of the original. More about the ESV translation philosophy….***

Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson
Through God’s Eyes
As different as we all are, in the eyes of God we are equal. God only sees two kinds of people, those who desire to do His will and those who do not. When we remember that God created us, that everyone deserves respect and kindness just as we do, we are more able to see people as God sees them.
There comes a moment when we all must realize that life is short and in the end the only thing that really counts is not how others sees us but how God sees us. God sees us through the eyes of love, mercy and grace, God sees and calls out the good in us that we can’t see ourselves.
If we look at ourselves through the eyes of others, we will never see who God sees. We see a mess but God sees a masterpiece. Proverbs 15:3 says “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.” We are precious in the eyes of God!
