Overview: The thrill of hope is in the celebration of Christmas. People over this land have made contributions based on their traditions during this season; however, we must be mindful to share our joy with those who don’t have peace. The light of the gospel of Jesus Christ can save them from their sins if they will accept Him. We must value every opportunity to teach others about King Jesus. Humble ourselves and share the odd stories of the Bible to get their attention as we become fishers of men.

As we sacrifice our time and talent, God will provide for our needs as we trust Him for the outcome. Share with them from our journal, what God has done for us and how He has shown His love toward us even when we were not deserving of it.

In our everyday moments, remember, a smile can offer relief, hope and grace to those whose spirit is crushed. Let’s encourage one another to seek God for peace in a troubled world. As we come aside and enjoy the wonders of God’s creation, let our meditation please Him. Keep in mind, in order for the beauty to remain in the eye, we must not only observe but rejoice and thank God for His wonderful creation as we reflect on what He has done.

***The Scriptures for this week’s lessons are taken from the NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION (NIV).  The New International Version (NIV) is a completely original translation of the Bible developed by more than one hundred scholars working from the best available Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts.

The initial vision for the project was provided by a single individual – an engineer working with General Electric in Seattle by the name of Howard Long. Long was a lifelong devotee of the King James Version, but when he shared it with his friends he was distressed to find that it just didn’t connect. Long saw the need for a translation that captured the truths he loved in the language that his contemporaries spoke.  To learn more, visit New International Version.***

2018 Praise Journal

Praise Ye The Lord!

As we begin the New Year, let’s start a Praise Journal.  Write down praise-worthy events to remember, the things for which you are grateful, the acts of kindness, and the answer to prayers that came in unexpected ways to reassure you that God is always present and to encourage you to continue trusting God for future needs.

Be creative.  List your favorite verses of praise, write down inspirational sayings, use pictures or any other momentous to remind you of the goodness of God.

We live for the precious moments of joy, although all too soon we forget.  A Praise Journal is the answer to your desire to keep a record of God’s goodness.  What you will discover is that the benefits are beyond anything you could ever imagine.  Every day is a blessing and you will find the power to praise God even when nothing else goes your way.

Keep a record of the amazing things God has done and what He has brought you through.  At the end of 2018, you will read in your Praise Journal that only God could turn a mess into a message, a test into a testimony, a trial into a triumph, and a victim into a victory.  God has given us one life, but it is no ordinary life; it is a thanks-living one day at a time.  Praise Ye The Lord!
