FOCUS OF THE MONTH

It’s Harvest Time: Salvation

SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK

(34)Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. (35)Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.  (36) And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. (37) And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.  – John 4:34-37 (KJV) (JUB)

Overview: God is good and trustworthy. Despite the difficult times we face in life, we must continue to lift our faith to God. His grace will sustain us and we can continue to be the best witnesses and beacon of hope for others. In our quest to win souls for the kingdom, there may be times when we become discouraged.

We may find ourselves disconnected from God, we must repent. We must never ignore the Holy Spirit. Let’s allow Him to be our invisible influence. We may encounter many individuals who will reject Jesus, however, we must continue to remind them that Jesus saved us from the sin curse and He can do the same for them if they would only accept Him as their Lord and Savior. As they see us striving to live a holy life of thankfulness because of God’s love, grace and mercy, they too may want to follow our example.

Never think of ourselves more highly than we ought to while ministering. Even though we have surrendered our lives to Christ, we still have a war going on between our flesh and spirit. In order for us not to fall into sin, we all must submit to our Helper, the Holy Spirit. There are times that God wants us to come aside to enjoy His handy work in the earth. We must continue to draw nigh to His presence and embrace His beauty that never ends during these difficult times.

***The Scriptures for this week’s lessons are taken from the JUBILEE BIBLE 2000 (JUB). In the Jubilee Bible 2000, the usage and context tends to define each key word so you won’t need to depend on theological dictionaries or reference materials. Careful attention has been made to properly translate the first usage of each key word, and through to the last occurrence. Then, as the word makes its way across the Old Testament and if we make the correct match with the corresponding Greek word in the New Testament, an amazing pattern emerges. The Jubilee Bible is the only translation we know of today that has each unique Hebrew word matched and mated to a unique English word so that the usage (number of occurrences and number of verses where the word occurs) sets forth both a very meaningful number pattern and a complete definition of what God means by each word.***

Thoughts from Sister Clovia Thompson

Bringing In The Harvest

There is always a sense of urgency in bringing in the harvest.  What can we do?

WE CAN PRAY.  When we begin to see people as Jesus saw them, then we will pray for the harvest.  We will pray for the salvation of the lost, for the church to train reapers, and for men and women to go to the harvest. We will pray for workers, laborers, and servers.  But we must do more than pray.

WE CAN GO.  When we see people as Jesus saw them, we will go into the harvest.  Our job is not to save the harvest; that is God’s work.  Our job is to tell people about the Lord of the Harvest.  THE GOSPEL BEGINS WITH GO.  Without going there is no knowing.  If we don’t go, who will?

WE CAN SHARE OUR STORY.  The great sin of the church is the sin of silence.  People often say, “I’ll let my life be my witness.”  How many people have come to Christ because they watched your life.
